I noticed one thing in particular, with Earlena riding a recumbent trike, I guess people were thinking it was a wheelchair or something. The drivers made a conscious effort to give us a full clear lane as they passed.
From Mrs Stormcrowe, Her observations:
I was real surprised as to how easy it went! The trike rides real well, even against a headwind. Road riding, even on a busy road like Indiana 38 or US 52 by the mall is surprisingly easy!

I would think they would be hard to pedal because of how your legs are positioned? My wife and I are thinking of getting a tandem from Co_motion
It's actually pretty comfortable! It's kind of like a lazy boy recliner with pedals! Earlena has ridden 30 and 40 miles on it with very little fatigue!
There's no quiet route to Ivy Tech is there? I'd probably pick Creasy Lane over US52, but there isn't that much difference.
I get nervous on my half mile section of SR26 during my commute.
Unfortunately, there's no direct access to Creasey, so it's either 38 or 52! We took a short section on 52 to avoid a left across traffic to stop by Payless on the way home.
I really was surprised though and so was Earlena as to how we were treated on both roads.....pleasantly!
Tom, you and your wife both absolutely rock. Big props to the Missus for going for it!
The trike actually does look like a fairly comfy ride. Good for her!! :)
Thanks, Fritz!
Carolyn, it sure is and it better be, she's going to be riding it about 660 miles in Mat in tour!
Congratulations! The hardest part is simply deciding to try it in the first place. After that it's just problem solving.
Since I'm an instructor with LAB and I can't resist, see if there's a Road1 or Commuter course offered in your area. We teach how to ride safely in traffic. The course greatly shortens the learning curve.

Thanks for the link, Ed! Much appreciated!
Congratulations on your first commute Mrs. Stormcrowe. This could be the beginning of a wonderfull affair. *>).
Have fun this summer.
That's awesome! Congratulations on joining the ranks of the bike commuter. I wish I could get my wife to do the same. Hopefully I can get her hooked on a recumbent too.

Noah, Mrs Stormcrowe says:
"Try out a Sun EZ3! They're comfortable and not a bank breaker as far as price goes!"
Actually, she loves it and is no longer afraid of road riding either! The cars give her plenty of space and this is even on busy roads. The usual driver reaction is a smile and a wave to her......and they even use ALL their fingers!
